Scrolling foliage frames the wolf's head on this oval buckle. The muzzle, ears and fur are worked in raised relief, and the leaf forms curl around them to the edge of the plate, where an even rim closes the oval.
The colour is that of aged silver, darker in the hollows of the pattern and brighter along the raised edges, which is what draws the wolf out of its background. A rectangular plate carries the buckle onto the strap, and a small ball catch sits at the lower edge.
Navy carries all of that well. The webbing is a deep blue with a fine horizontal rib along its length, and a keeper loop in the same colour holds the tail of the strap once it is through. It sits easily with indigo denim, charcoal trousers and black boots, and it leaves the silver oval as the bright point.
