For a printed shirt specifically, heavier fabric is the better choice, because a print sits on a surface and a surface that stretches and sags takes the design with it. A crackled print is often a symptom of a shirt that has lost its shape rather than of the ink itself failing.

The practical signal, absent a stated weight, is how the shirt feels on arrival. A shirt that feels substantial in the hand will look right for years. One that feels thin will not.
