The one that photographs

Worth being honest about what a temporary tattoo is often for. A good proportion get worn for an event, a festival, a party or a weekend, and a good proportion get photographed.

Bright saturated colour is what survives that. Phone cameras compress heavily and lose subtle tonal work first, so a delicate grey design that looks lovely in person can come out as a smudge on a screen.

Strong colour holds its separation through compression, bad lighting and a photograph taken from two metres away by someone who is not concentrating.

Where to put it for that

Somewhere visible without needing to be pointed at: the outside of a forearm, an upper arm, a shoulder, a collarbone.

Not the inner arm, which faces the wrong way in most photographs, and not anywhere a sleeve will half cover.

Apply it the night before

Not on the day. Transfers set properly over a few hours and are at their most fragile in the first one, which is exactly when people are getting dressed and rubbing sleeves over them.
