Grey is made of many colours

A grey wolf carries several colours in a single coat. Each guard hair is banded along its length with black, buff and pale silver, and the eye blends those bands into one tone that shifts with the season, the light and the angle of the animal. The wolf printed across the back of this jacket keeps that layered quality rather than flattening it into a single shade.

Coats built for weather

Beneath the guard hairs sits a dense woolly undercoat, shed in great drifts each spring and grown back before the cold returns. The two layers do different jobs. The outer hair sheds rain and snow, while the inner layer traps warm air against the skin. It is the same principle as a lined coat, arrived at long before anyone thought to sew one.
