The obvious advantage of a large pendant, and the one people forget when comparing photographs.
Everything in jewellery is a fight against scale. Fur, expression, the modelling around the eyes: all of it is the first thing lost when a design is shrunk. At this size none of it has to be sacrificed, so the piece carries modelling that a small pendant simply cannot hold.
It is the difference between a wolf you recognise and a wolf you can look at.
The second advantage. A large silhouette is legible at conversational distance and beyond, where a delicate piece is effectively invisible to anyone more than a metre away.
If the point of wearing something is that it is seen, size is the single most effective variable.
A substantial pendant wants an open neckline and a plain background: an unbuttoned collar, a dark t-shirt, a jacket with nothing else competing. Given that space it looks deliberate and considered.
A rounded shield tapering to a point at the base. The wolf is seen head on rather than in profile, jaws open and teeth showing, raised well clear of the surface behind it, and Norse knotwork runs round the whole border and up onto the bail. Below the head sits a valknut, three triangles locked into one another, on its own flat panel. Stainless steel in a silver tone, darkened in the recesses so the carving stands out, which keeps its edges and does not tarnish with daily wear.
