Upright on two legs and hunched forward, one clawed hand thrown out ahead of it, this werewolf is caught in the middle of a lunge. The weight sits over the back foot, the shoulders drop, and the reaching arm is what pulls your eye across the whole figure.
Coarse fur is carved over the body in long ragged strands, bunching into a heavy ruff between the shoulders and hanging in tatters from the forearms. Copper coloured highlights are brushed across the raised edges of that fur over a dark brown base, so a lamp picks out the texture instead of washing it flat. The head is pure wolf: pricked ears, an open muzzle with a full row of white fangs, and a single red eye set under a heavy brow. Hands and feet both end in blunt dark claws. It is moulded in PVC at a length of 10 cm.
The werewolf may trace back to Norse mythology, where gods took the shape of bears and wolves. The version most people know has a man changing under the full moon into something carrying a wolf's power and ferocity, altered in his voice and in the shape of his eyes. The longer history is set out in our article on the werewolf myth.
Suitable for ages 3 years and older. Not suitable for children under 3 years.
On a shelf it stands alongside the rest of our wolf figurines as the one creature in the group that walks on two legs.
