Why the wolf is the most tattooed animal

It is not only meaning. The wolf happens to be unusually well suited to being drawn on a person.

The head has a strong outline that survives being small, an expressive face that carries an emotion without needing detail, and a shape recognisable from a silhouette alone. Very few animals have all three. A bear at small scale is a dark lump; a fox reads as a dog.
