Why the calf is the sensible placement

It rarely gets suggested and it is one of the best spots there is, for reasons that have nothing to do with looks.

It is a large, relatively flat, muscular surface, so a big design sits evenly rather than distorting. It does not flex much, which is what destroys transfers on elbows and knuckles. And it is covered by trousers and uncovered by shorts, so you decide daily whether it exists.

For permanent work it has a further advantage: it is among the less painful areas, being muscle over bone rather than bone under skin.

One thing to check

Calves are more curved than they look. A design 21 cm tall will follow the length of the leg comfortably, but a wide design wraps, and anything that wraps around a curve cannot be seen all at once.

Run this one vertically, along the leg. That is what the shape is for.

Hair

The one real obstacle on legs. Transfer adheres to hair rather than skin and lifts with it, so shave the area first if it is not smooth. This matters more here than anywhere else on the body.
