Colour, deliberatelyMost wolf art sits in greys, blues and whites. This one does not, and that is the reason to choose it.A wolf's head in profile, muzzle raised, painted across a wash of crimson, orange, pink and violet that behaves more like a nebula...

Every hair on this wolf's face has been painted in, from the pale ruff along the cheeks to the darker mask sitting between the eyes. The colours are honest ones, warm brown and tan over charcoal and cream, with amber eyes, a pale muzzle...

Backlight does the work in this one. The wolf's head is nearly pure black and fills the whole front, while every hair along the ears and ruff catches a cold blue edge thrown from the forest behind. Two green eyes hold the centre. Faint...

Firelight on a lowered head Side on, head dropped, mouth open with the teeth showing. The wolf is drawn in hard black and white, from the dark line down the muzzle to the heavy pale ruff banked around the neck and shoulders, and it...

Dark all the way throughSubject and palette agreeing with each other, which is not true of every design in this range. A wolf sitting back on its haunches and howling, worked in greys and silver white against a night sky, with a full moon...

Night rather than confrontationThe wolf stands square in the snow, front on and looking straight out, with a moon over the pines on one side of it and a single bright star on the other. It holds your eye steadily rather than threatening you,...

Kin rather than quarryAcross a great many Native American nations the wolf is not an animal you hunt. It is closer to a relative: a teacher, a guardian, sometimes a brother. The recognition was practical before it was spiritual. Peoples living by hunting, fishing and...

The breath is the detailSteam rising from the animal's mouth is what makes this image cold. Without it you have a wolf and some snow; with it the temperature becomes a fact rather than a suggestion.Small details carry more weight than the big ones...

A diamond sits at the centre of this print, and everything happens inside it. The upper half is a wolf's face built from starlight, white fur running out into violet and cyan, the eyes pale blue. The lower half drops into a forest of...

The one for a small wallThis runs 35x50cm, 45x60cm and 60x80cm, which makes it the most compact exact-size range we carry. That is genuinely useful. Most of our paintings assume a wall with space to spare, and plenty of rooms do not have one: the...

The heaviest ring we sellAt 23.8g this outweighs everything else in the range, and it is immediately obvious in the hand. If you have only worn light bands before, expect a few days of adjustment before it stops registering.Much of that weight sits in...

The Stark sigilThe direwolf, and no explanation needed for anybody who will recognise it. It is modelled in the round as a full head, jaws open and turned to one side, with the mane cut into overlapping rows of pointed fur that sweep back...

Odin and his wolvesOdin kept two wolves, Geri and Freki, whose names both mean roughly the ravenous one. The sagas say he gave them all his food and lived on wine alone. They sat at his feet in Valhalla, and they are the reason the...

Weight as part of the designAt 18.5g this sits well above the average for our range, and on a Norse piece that is appropriate. Viking metalwork was not delicate, and a lightweight ring carrying this imagery would feel wrong in the hand.Odin, and why...

Walking, not huntingThe wolf here is moving quietly across snow rather than snarling at the viewer, and that single choice changes what the piece does to a room.A calm animal reads as landscape. A confrontational one demands attention every time you walk past, which...
