Ink, gold and a crescent moon A gold crescent moon sits high on this wolf's brow, drawn as though scratched into the dark with a fine pen. The head fills the whole blanket, front on and level, worked in deep teal and near black...

Four moons cross the lower half of this design, waxing from a slim crescent to a full gold disc, while a blue wolf looks straight out from above them. Behind its head a white sphere is drawn in fine geometric lines, and everything else...

Drawn in ink on a cream ground Nearly all of this design is line. Pen strokes and stippled dots build the shading, and the broad cream ground is left open to carry the light. Illustrators call that reserved white: the untouched ground becomes the...

Autumn red rather than snowMost wolf landscapes are winter scenes. This one is not, and the difference is more useful than it sounds. The wolf sits low in a bank of crimson autumn scrub with rust bracken behind it, head turned towards you and both...

Black and gold, the colours of Anubis Anubis was painted black in Egyptian tomb art for reasons that had little to do with the coats of living animals. Black was the colour of the silt left by the Nile flood, the colour of returning...

A wolf made of night sky Ink and starlight share this face. The crown, ears and outer ruff are deep black shot through with teal nebula and a fine spray of white specks, much like a long exposure of a clear winter sky. Below...

A full moon sits at the centre of this blanket, craters and all, on a disc of stars, with a white wolf stretched over the top of it like a bridge. A crescent below carries the words Moon Child across its horns, a faceted...

Two wolves, opposedFire against ice, warm against cold, in a single composition. It is the most graphically direct piece in our painting range and it works because the contrast is doing all the work. The reading is duality: two natures held in one frame. That...

Not meant to be read at a glanceNon-figurative work asks something of the viewer that a portrait does not. The animal is present in gesture and colour rather than in outline, so the piece resolves differently depending on how long you look at it.What...

The one for a child's roomA group of pups playing together, and the only painting in our range that genuinely suits a nursery or a young child's bedroom.Everything else here is an adult animal, and adult wolf imagery is atmospheric at best and frightening...

Bare woodland rather than snowMost wolf art defaults to a snow scene, and snow is cold in every sense: a white ground and a hard bright field that the rest of the room has to be planned around. This is a leafless winter wood instead,...

One colour family is the whole styleFantasy work is defined by its palette more than its subject. This one runs on turquoise and deep night blue: a great cracked moon over a river valley, snow capped ridges behind it, and a pale wolf standing...

Lines that swell and taperBold tribal work rests on a single idea: a line that changes weight as it travels. It thickens through the shoulder, narrows to a hair at the tip of the ear, and that swelling alone tells you where the muscle...

Short spiky strokes crowd the ruff and shoulders of this standing wolf, ease off along the back, and open into fine flicks at the tail. The whole animal is engraved into clear acrylic in full profile, nose to tail. Light caught in the grooves...

A pack, not a lone wolfAlmost every wolf image sold is a single animal. This one shows three, and that changes the subject entirely.A lone wolf reads as independence. A group reads as family, which is what a wolf pack actually is: a breeding...
