Standing on a ridge of rock, this wolf has turned its head to look straight out of the panel. The body runs side on, the tail sweeps down and back in feathered strokes, and the face pivots towards you.
The acrylic sheet is clear, so by day you see the etched drawing and the wall behind it at once. Switch the base on and LEDs push light in through the bottom edge. That light stays trapped inside the panel until it strikes an engraved line, where it scatters and lights up. Every cut becomes a bright thread while the uncut acrylic stays dark, so the wolf seems to hang in mid air.
The turned head is what sells the depth. A flank seen from the side and a face seen head on cannot belong to something flat, so once you accept the pose you accept the volume. The rocky ground line under the paws helps too, giving the figure somewhere to stand.
