Flowing curves do the drawing here. The mane, flanks and tail are built from long sweeping forms with pointed tips, and the wolf is caught mid stride in a low prowling stance, one front paw reaching forward and the tail lifted high behind.
Inside each of those curves lies a field of fine parallel lines, ruled evenly from one edge of the shape to the other, and that is where the light lives. Every engraved line catches the glow rising from the base and switches on, so a shape marked on a flat sheet fills in as a solid band of light.
Light enters the panel through its bottom edge and travels along inside it, unseen, until an engraving interrupts its path. Acrylic left untouched passes the light on and stays dark, which is why the wall behind shows through and the wolf appears to float clear of any backing. The filled bands read as mass, the unmarked gaps between them read as shadow, and the animal takes its weight from that contrast.
