Norse sources give Fenrir the most famous binding in all the mythology. Iron chains snapped. The gods went to the dwarves, who made a fetter called Gleipnir, slender as a ribbon and unbreakable, and Tyr paid for the deception with his hand. Setting that wolf inside a ring you cannot open is a good piece of design thinking.

How it sits

The shape is a rounded crown with a curved peak, a button at the top and a white line of trim following the edge of the brim. Black ground, white emblem, nothing else competing, which is why the runic disc still reads from several paces away.
