Violet, magenta and electric blue run together across this canopy, and out of them a single wolf's face resolves: two pale glowing eyes set either side of the centre pin, a broad dark muzzle dropping towards the rim, ears rising into the upper panels.
Stars are scattered right through the fur, with one bright four point flare sitting between the brows. Along the bottom edge runs a black line of conifer tops, small enough to give the whole thing scale, so the wolf stops being a portrait and becomes sky.
The colour is closer to real astronomy than it first appears. In deep sky photographs the pinks and reds come from hydrogen gas glowing, while the cooler blues are starlight scattering off dust. This print uses both, blue through the centre of the face, magenta drifting out towards the panel seams.
Dye sublimation carries the ink into the fibre rather than leaving it on the surface, which is what holds colour this strong against fading.
