Direwolves were real animals. Aenocyon dirus ranged across the Americas until roughly thirteen thousand years ago, heavier in the jaw than a grey wolf and built for larger prey. Fiction borrowed the name. This cover borrows the snarl.
The wolf stands proud of the lid in raised relief, head in profile, jaws open on a full set of teeth, the mane built from overlapping layers that catch light along every edge. A beaded border rings the rim. Above it the bow is open scrollwork, with a fluted crown seated between two rosette shoulders.
It is made for the people who recognise the mark on sight and would rather carry it in a pocket than hang it on a wall. The case is durable stainless steel in a gold and silver finish, and the chain measures approximately 80 cm in total. One pocket watch comes in the package.
Other pieces sit in the wolf watch collection, and there is a fuller account of the living animal in the grey wolf.
