A face built from flat planes

Every part of this wolf is cut into triangles: the brow, the cheekbones, the bridge of the muzzle, even the nose. Low poly work usually flattens a subject, yet a wolf's face survives the treatment, because the marks that carry its expression are already close to geometry. A dark mask above the eyes, a pale wedge running down the centre of the face, a blunt dark triangle at the end of it.

The colours stay cool throughout. Charcoal and near black gather in the ears and hood, slate grey, teal green and a dusty mauve drift across the crown, and cream runs down the muzzle. Two amber eyes are the only warm tone anywhere in the print, which is why they are the first thing anyone picks out from the other end of a room.

The design covers the whole garment, hood, sleeves and body together, so the ears climb up into the hood and the head sits square on the chest. Close up you see the individual facets. Step back and they dissolve into one wolf, watching.
