The hours are marked in white Roman numerals ranged around a minute track, with slim silver hands sweeping across the scene beneath. The case is bright and silver toned, banded with fine reeding around its edge, and a fluted crown sits between two shoulders at the top. A second cover stands open behind the case, showing its inner face, and the chain hangs from the ring above.
A gousset carries its own small ceremony. The chain brings the watch clear of the pocket, the dial turns up to the light, and the night scene gets a moment of proper attention. At roughly 80 cm the chain leaves room to drape it across a coat or to let the watch hang lower.
