Almost every wolf image sold anywhere shows the animal at maximum drama: howling, snarling, standing on a rock. This one is grooming itself.

It is a completely ordinary thing for a wolf to be doing, and it is almost never depicted. Wolves spend a large share of the day resting, grooming and lying about, and the dramatic moments are the exception.

Which makes this the honest portrait, and a far easier one to live with. A snarling wolf on a sofa cushion is a lot to have in a room you relax in.

Sofa or bed

The calm subject suits both, which is not true of the bolder designs.
