Colour that survives being small

A bag panel this size gives a design about as much room as a paperback cover, and that decides what works on it.

Saturated colour survives the reduction. Subtle tonal work does not: shading and fine detail close up into a grey patch as soon as a design is printed small, while strong flat colour keeps its separation at any scale.

Here that means a wolf's head facing straight out and filling the panel, worked in green, blue, yellow, purple and orange strokes with a bright blue nose and gold eyes, all set on a coral pink ground. It is the boldest print in our shoulder bag range and the one that reads most clearly from across a room.
