Firelight on a lowered head

Side on, head dropped, mouth open with the teeth showing. The wolf is drawn in hard black and white, from the dark line down the muzzle to the heavy pale ruff banked around the neck and shoulders, and it sits across the chest and right side of the garment.

In profile a wolf is read by its jaw rather than its eyes, and the jaw is where the detail has gone. Orange and yellow flame climbs at the lower left with embers lifting off it, and that single patch of warm colour gives the black fur its edge and the pale ruff its glare.

The rest of the print stays deep black, hood and sleeves included, so nothing competes with the head. Against that dark ground the wolf appears to float, which is why the design still holds together from the far side of a street.
