Red Riding Hood stands in a scarlet hooded cape with a small bow at the throat and a white apron below, and the rest of the cast comes with her: the woodsman in a pointed green hat, the grandmother in round spectacles and a floral dress, and the wolf with his pale muzzle, black nose and three white teeth showing under a grey coat.
Every head is turned in wood with the face painted on by hand, down to the grandmother's spectacles and the pink cheeks on Red Riding Hood. The grandmother's grey hair is a soft knitted headscarf drawn close around her face. The bodies are fabric, each with a pair of small felt arms held out at the sides. Composition is wood and fabric.
Each figure measures 4 x 7 cm. All four sit in one open palm, so a child can wear the whole tale at once, one character per finger, and change voices as the scene moves from the forest path to the cottage door.
A single puppet is enough for one scene. Bring out all four and the story runs start to finish with every character present, which turns a familiar bedtime tale into something a child performs rather than only listens to.
