Most wolf jewelry draws on Norse or Native American imagery. This one goes to Egypt instead, which gives it a completely different visual language: clean geometry, strong profile, no knotwork. The head is shown side on with the ears up and the striped headdress falling either side, a gold-toned ankh sits on the crown between them, and a second ankh is engraved into the shoulder of the band.
Anubis is almost always described as jackal-headed. That is probably wrong. The Egyptian jackal that inspired the image was reclassified after genetic work as the African golden wolf, which means the god who guides the dead has, on current evidence, the head of a wolf.
