It is the most loaded simple shape there is, and the meaning flips entirely with its orientation.
Point upward and a triangle is the most stable form available: a wide base, everything resting downward, nothing about to move. It reads as solid, permanent, mountain-like.
Point downward and the same shape is balanced on a corner. It reads as tension, as something held in a position it will not stay in.
Designers and painters have used this deliberately for centuries, and viewers respond to it without knowing they are doing so. It is one of the few visual rules that genuinely holds across cultures.
Check which way the triangular elements sit before you place the design, and hold it against the spot the right way up. On a limb it is easy to end up rotating a design without noticing, and this is one where rotation changes what it says.
A finely drawn wolf head in grey and black, looking straight out, with small triangles and crossed lines set around the ears. Below the muzzle the design breaks into a band of triangles that scatters downward and thins to single shapes. The geometry frames the face rather than building it.
9.8 x 6 cm, compact, suiting a forearm, shoulder or ankle.
