Two wolves, one shackle

Paired animal heads facing each other across a ring turn up again and again in old metalwork, and this bracelet takes the arrangement literally. Two cast wolf heads finish the rope ends, muzzles forward, and a bow shackle with a screw pin closes the gap between them.

The casting carries real detail. Fur sweeps back along the cheeks into a raised mane, the ears stand upright, and brow and eye are cut clearly enough to give the heads an expression. The finish is a warm copper tone, darkened down in the recesses so every fur line stands away from the one beside it.

The band is woven rope, worked tight and flat sided, with tan and black threaded through one another so the colour shifts along the length rather than sitting even.

How the rope reads

The two colours do the quiet work here. Tan and black speckled through the weave keep the band from reading as one flat block, and they carry the warm copper of the heads along the whole length rather than leaving it stranded at the ends. The shackle stays in full view at the front, so the closure is part of the face of the piece rather than something tucked out of sight.
