The fur on this costume is printed, and the print carries the shading as well as the colour. Darker grey runs down the outside of the arms and legs, paler grey gathers across the chest, and ribs and muscle are picked out in shadow across the torso so it reads as lean. Streaks of dark red cross the chest and reach the lower edge of the top, telling the story before anyone thinks to ask.
The mask covers the front of the head and brings the whole animal with it. Pointed ears stand up from the crown, the brow is heavy, the muzzle is short and broad, and the lips are pulled back off a full set of white teeth above a red mouth. Pale grey fur frames the cheeks and the underside of the jaw, so the head reads straight on from the printed shoulders.
The long sleeved top and the matching trousers are separate, both carrying the same fur print, so they read as a single creature once they are both on. It is a costume for children, made to be recognised from the far end of the street.
