Wolf Cake Mould Little Red Riding Hood

The wolf from Little Red Riding Hood prowls across this mould in full costume, hooded cape tied with a bow at the throat, a woven picnic basket carried in its jaws and its tail curled high behind. It is a single cavity cut to the outline of the figure, so one pour gives you the whole scene as one piece.

The shape it casts

The detail is carved into the cavity, so it survives the pour. The crosshatch weave of the empty basket, the breaks in the fur along the flank, the ruffled edge of the rounded hood and the small round bobble beside the bow all read clearly on the finished cast. At 0.7 cm deep it gives a slim panel, which suits chocolate, fondant, jelly and set cream as readily as sponge, and lies flat on a larger cake as a topper.

Silicone and measurements

Composition is food grade silicone, ultra flexible and non-stick, and simple to wash out. It holds from -40°C to 230°C, so the same mould goes into the freezer and into the oven. The mould measures 10.5 x 6.7 x 0.7 cm and weighs 23 g. Brushing the cavity with a little neutral oil before filling helps the cast lift away cleanly.
