Warmth, in a category that rarely offers it

Wolf design runs overwhelmingly to menace: bared teeth, howling silhouettes, animals on rocks. Very little of it is warm, and almost none of it is tender.

This is, and that makes it one of the few pieces here that genuinely suits a bedroom rather than a study or a games room.

What the design shows

A single wolf, head on and looking straight out, with fine snow falling across its face and pale blue eyes holding the centre of the cover. In its jaws is the stem of a red rose, the dark leaves running down across its muzzle and a second bloom opening at the lower edge.

The red is the only strong colour in an otherwise grey and near black image, which is what makes the gesture read from across a room rather than only close up.

Where it works

A bedroom, a family room, a reading chair. Anywhere the brief is calm rather than dramatic, which rules out most of the rest of this category and not this.

The cover

45 x 45 cm, 100% polyester, high definition print, machine washable at 30 degrees and quick drying. Sold as a cover only, so the pad is not included.
