Amber is a wolf's grown up eye colour. Pups are born with blue eyes, and the iris warms through to gold or yellow within the first few months of life. This painted portrait builds everything around that one gold eye: a wolf in profile, its coat so dark it reads almost black, set against a bronze and copper sky with snow drifting through the foreground in small pale specks.
Deep shades are the hardest thing to hold on fabric. The canopy is printed by dye sublimation, so the colour becomes part of the polyester rather than a coating on top of it, and the near black stays dense while the gold behind the wolf stays warm.
Eight solid fibre ribs hold the octagon out to 110 cm across, and the folding shaft brings the whole thing back to 28 cm when the rain stops. The handle below is plastic.
