A low poly wolf face comes out of this cavity, brow, cheeks and muzzle cut into flat triangles that catch the light at different angles. Two sharp ears stand up at the top and the snout narrows to a faceted point. The example in the photograph has been turned out in a pale cream, every edge coming through sharp, and it sits on the thick hexagonal block of pink silicone it was cast in.
This is a full three dimensional cavity rather than a relief panel, so the finished wolf stands up on the plate and holds its shape from every side. The mould measures 8.7 x 5.5 x 5.3 cm and weighs 92 g, and the heavy hexagonal wall around the cavity keeps everything steady while you fill it and while it sets.
Composition is food silicone, flexible and non-stick, and it resists both low and high temperatures. Chocolate, fondant, mousse and ice all take the facets cleanly. Grease the cavity lightly with a neutral oil first and the head lifts out with its corners intact.
