Panels read as time passing

Most multi-panel work is one picture cut into pieces. This is doing something better than that.

A pack strung out across separate panels does not read as a frozen instant. The eye moves from one panel to the next in sequence, and the gaps become intervals, so the piece reads as movement over time rather than a single moment.

That is the one genuine argument for a panelled format over a single canvas, and it only works when the subject is travelling. On a portrait it would be a gimmick.

Here the subject is a group of grey wolves in a snowbound forest, all facing the same way, the leading animal in mid stride on open snow while another hangs back among the dark trunks. The palette is white, frost blue and grey, with snow loaded on every branch.

Hang it in the direction of travel

Which means the order matters, and so does the room. Put it where people walk past in the same direction the animals are moving and the effect doubles.

A hallway or a landing is ideal. Keep the gaps small and identical, and mark the wall outward from its centre.
