Three wolves together makes a family portrait rather than a gang. A pack is normally a breeding pair and their young from the last year or two, so most of what looks like rank is really parents and their grown pups. The design keeps that closeness in the spacing, the animals set shoulder to shoulder instead of in a line of command.
The three heads sit across the middle of a round towel, a grey wolf in profile on the left, a heavy brown and rust wolf facing straight out of the centre, and a paler grey wolf turned to the right. Feathers in black, white, red and turquoise hang beside them under a beaded disc, and the group rests on a sand coloured ground worked with mandala and geometric bands in purple, red and gold, finished with a white fringe at the edge.
Older brothers and sisters often stay on for a season to help raise the next litter, guarding the pups while the parents hunt and carrying food home. A returning adult is greeted with licked muzzles, the old request that asks it to share what it has eaten.
