Two wolves, opposed

A white wolf set against a black one, rendered without colour. It is the most graphically direct composition in our range, and the whole image is carried by the confrontation between the two halves.

The reading is duality: two natures held in one frame. That idea sits underneath the werewolf myth and underneath most of what people mean when they call the wolf a totem animal.

Monochrome earns its place here

Colour would ruin this. The point is the opposition, and any third element competing for attention would dilute it.

It also makes the piece unusually easy to place. Black and white sits against grey, cream, navy, brick or wood without planning, which is why it works in rooms where a colour piece would need the scheme built around it.
