Wolf Hoodie White and Black

One face, two halves, split on a vertical axis

Down the centre of this black pullover runs a clean vertical line, and either side of it sits half a wolf. Left of the line, a black wolf with a red eye. Right of it, a white wolf with a blue one. Brow, muzzle and jaw line up so exactly across the join that the two halves read as one animal before you notice the split at all.

The background is divided on the same axis. Black fills the left of the chest and carries straight into the black body of the garment, while a soft grey light opens behind the white wolf on the right. Coverage is full across the front, with the hood left plain black. Red and blue are the only colours anywhere in the image, one to each eye.

Both coats exist in the wild. Melanism in wolves traces back to a gene inherited from domestic dogs, while the pale coats belong to the high Arctic. Each has its own portrait in black wolf and white wolf.
