Territorial boundaries in wolf country work as broad bands rather than lines, a zone several kilometres deep where two neighbouring packs both leave marks and neither settles. Deer gather in those buffer strips for exactly that reason. A boundary drawn well ends up sheltering what lives inside it.
The emblem on this buckle belongs to the same habit of marking. A wolf's head comes forward out of a shield shaped plate, mouth open, ears swept back into the scrolls that frame it. A braided rope border runs down one edge and a beaded rim down the other, and the aged silver tone keeps the recesses dark so the face carries from across a room.
The strap is slate blue, woven with a fine rib along its length and deepening to navy in the panel that meets the buckle. A bright metal plate clamps it where the two join.
