Fantasy work is defined by its palette more than its subject. This one runs on turquoise and deep night blue: a great cracked moon over a river valley, snow capped ridges behind it, and a pale wolf standing on a rock ledge with its back to you, watching the moon.

That is the opposite of the high contrast realism elsewhere in our range, and it produces a completely different object: something atmospheric rather than sharp.

Low contrast is easy to live with

There is a practical argument underneath the aesthetic one. High contrast images demand attention every time you enter a room, which is what you want on a feature wall and not what you want at the end of a long day.

Soft work recedes when you are not looking at it and rewards you when you are. It is the single best quality in a piece meant to hang above a bed.

The trade is that it needs reasonable light. In a dark corner, subtle tonal shifts collapse into mush.
