The design works with three elements. A flat blue disc stands in for the moon high on the chest, a single wolf curves up from below in profile with its head thrown back, and a scatter of round droplets falls away to the right. Set on a white pullover, those three shapes read almost as a printed poster.

The painting itself is watercolour. Blues run from pale sky at the top of the moon to deep cobalt across the flank, and the coat is speckled with white flecks so the animal seems filled with a night sky. Head, ears and muzzle stay in grey and white line work, which keeps the face sharp against all that pigment. The image holds the centre of the chest and runs down the front of the garment.
