Plenty of animals make noise. Very few coordinate their voices with others of their kind for no immediate practical return, and the short list of those that do is genuinely short: wolves, some gibbons, a handful of birds, and us.
A chorus howl is not each wolf shouting. The animals join in sequence, adjust around each other, and hold it together for a while before it collapses. Observers describe it starting for no obvious reason at all, sometimes after a reunion, sometimes before setting off, sometimes apparently because one of them felt like it.
Whatever else it does, it clearly does something for the group that is not about territory or hunting.
Which is why the comparison to human singing keeps being made. Both are voices synchronised for the sake of being synchronised, and both leave a group feeling more like a group afterwards.
A broad flat disc in a silver tone, hung from a small tab rather than a bail, with the wolf drawn through the open centre in cut-out line: head thrown back to the right, muzzle up, the ear, throat and chest picked out as thin outlines with the metal removed either side of them, so whatever is behind the pendant shows through the drawing. Cut from sheet, so it carries its width without much weight.
