Silver white thread fills nearly the whole face of this shield, a full moon worked almost edge to edge. Against it a black wolf stands in silhouette on a low ridge, muzzle lifted towards the top right corner. A banner across the foot carries the word Wolfpack in white blackletter script, and a white border follows the outline of the crest.
Lifting the muzzle is practical rather than theatrical. It aims the call up and outwards over open country instead of down into the ground, and a low howl sent that way can carry for miles through cool, still night air. Wolves call more often after dark for exactly that reason, which is how the moon came to take the credit.
A howl is a contact call before it is anything else. One voice goes out to ask who is still there, and the replies come back from wherever the rest of the pack has got to. Holding the design to three tones means the silhouette stays legible from right across a room.
