Kin rather than quarry

Across a great many Native American nations the wolf is not an animal you hunt. It is closer to a relative: a teacher, a guardian, sometimes a brother.

The recognition was practical before it was spiritual. Peoples living by hunting, fishing and gathering watched an animal doing exactly the same thing, in the same country, with the same seasons, and saw a counterpart rather than a competitor.

Three panels, with exact sizes

The centre panel carries a wolf's head looking straight out, with the head of a bald eagle below it. A woman in a beaded, feathered headband is in profile on the left panel and a man under a wide spread of long black feathers on the right, the two of them facing each other across the wolf. It all sits on a worn gold and rust ground with a cracked, aged surface.

Sold as a triptych, and the sizes give each panel rather than the whole piece. Small is 20x30cmx3, rising to 50x70cmx3 at XL.
