Mist scatters light in every direction at once, which is why a fogged wood has no shadows and no hard edges, only shapes made partly of the air around them. This print works the same seam. The wolf surfaces and dissolves inside a single frame, half solid animal and half cloud.
Colour behaves oddly in that light too. As daylight fades the eye hands over from the cells that read colour to the cells that read only brightness, and the whole world slides towards blue and silver before it goes grey. This print goes the other way. The cloud on one side of the face burns crimson and magenta, the other side runs electric blue and teal, stars carry through the dark between them, and a moon sits low under the muzzle. The eyes are mismatched, one cold blue and one amber.
Wolves are equipped for exactly these conditions. A reflective layer behind the retina sends light back through the eye for a second pass, which is why wolf eyes flare when a torch catches them. When sight gives out they work by ear and nose instead, and a howl carries for miles over open ground, holding a scattered pack together in weather where nothing can be seen.
