That combination has aged better over the last decade than either half manages alone. A straight wildlife photograph tends to date; the overlaid geometry pulls the image out of that category and into something closer to graphic design.
The palette here is wide and intense, magenta and violet through to green, with the whole head set against what reads as deep space. This is a piece that sets a room's colour scheme rather than fitting into one.
That is worth deciding deliberately. In a neutral room it becomes the focal point and everything else arranges around it. In a room that already has a strong colour, the two will argue.
