Lines that swell and taper

Bold tribal work rests on a single idea: a line that changes weight as it travels. It thickens through the shoulder, narrows to a hair at the tip of the ear, and that swelling alone tells you where the muscle sits. The weight of the line does the job that shading does elsewhere.

Here you get the head alone, face on and staring straight out, and the whole mask is built from pattern. Herringbone runs down the muzzle, small repeating shapes fill the brow and the cheeks, and long leaf and feather forms trail off the ruff. The bare ground around it works as hard as the ink.

Contrast that carries

Black against an open ground is the oldest contrast in design, and it keeps its edge in full sun, which is why the shape still reads from the far end of the beach. Flags, sails and road signs are built on the same arithmetic.

Laid down with high quality digital 3D printing, so the long curves stay smooth and the fine tapers keep their point.

Cloth and size

Microfibre, round, in a choice of 100 cm or 150 cm across, 420 g. It dries fast and washes in the machine at 30 degrees.
