A wolf's face out of a dark blue winter wood, and everything about this image rests on that one detail. The picture is worked almost entirely in deep blue and near black, with snow falling through bare branches, so the two pale eyes have nothing to compete with and hold attention from anywhere in the room.
Blue eyes in an adult wolf are worth a note: wolf pups are born with blue eyes that almost always turn amber or gold within a few months. A blue-eyed adult wolf is rare in life and common in art, which is part of why the image reads as slightly otherworldly.
This is the one case where going small genuinely damages the piece. At a reduced size the eyes lose their hold and the image becomes a dark shape in a dark wood.
If the wall can only take a small canvas, choose a landscape or a geometric piece instead and save this for somewhere it can be seen properly.
Dark compositions want light around them. On a pale wall with a little space either side this keeps its shape, where a dim corner closes it up.
