Wolf Bedding Set Dream Catcher

Watercolour works by letting pigment bleed where it wants, and this print keeps every one of those soft edges. A grey wolf watches from the left of the comforter cover, amber eyed, its ruff dissolving into washes of apricot, gold and deep blue. A woven hoop sits at the centre and two long feathers stretch right across the bed, with paler blue plumes drifting beneath them. The pillow covers carry the same painting, smaller.

What the feathers were for

In Anishinaabe practice the feathers tied under a dreamcatcher were part of how the thing worked. The web held the night's difficulty until morning light undid it, and the feather gave good dreams a soft path down to the sleeper. Owl feathers were often given to girls, eagle feathers to boys. Something made by hand for the hours of sleep has a long history behind it, and this print carries that history onto the bed.

The wolf sits easily in that company. Among many peoples of the plains and the woodlands the wolf is addressed as an elder brother, watched and learned from, credited with teaching people how to hunt together and how to come home.

Supplied as a cover set: one printed comforter cover and two pillow covers, made to dress bedding you already have. Filling is not included, so you keep the comforter or duvet you like.
