Wolf Comforter Cover Set

Drawn in fine black line and split straight down the middle, this design turns one wolf head into two halves. On the left the ink is white on black, on the right it is black on white, and the word wolf runs down the join in tall block capitals that swap colour as they cross it. The lettering is part of the picture rather than a caption sitting on top of it, and the two pillow covers repeat the trick at a smaller scale.

Parents, not rank

The idea of an alpha wolf fighting its way to the top came from watching unrelated animals kept together in captivity. In the wild the picture is simpler and warmer. A pack is a family, and the two wolves apparently in charge are the mother and father of nearly everyone else in it.

Decisions move through that family quietly. The breeding pair choose where to den and when to shift ground, the older offspring back them up, the younger ones follow. It is why the same wolves can be seen wrestling in the grass one hour and hunting in formation the next.
