Coin makers raise a rim around a struck design for a practical reason: the border takes the rubbing so the relief inside stays crisp. This pair borrows that format. Each earring is a round disc with a raised outer edge, and set within it a wolf caught mid howl, head lifted and muzzle pointing up out of the field.
The chest and shoulder rise from the ground of the disc, the throat stretches, and the background behind the animal is darkened so the figure resolves at a glance. Wolves howl to locate one another and to hold a pack together across distance, which makes it a fitting thing to wear at the ear. There is more on that in why wolves howl.
A solid disc carries light across one continuous surface, so the piece registers as a bright shape first and gives up the wolf as you come closer. That is the old medallion habit, and it is why the raised rim matters: it frames the animal and keeps the whole design reading as a single object.
Metal, offered in gold and silver, pictured as a pair in the silver colour, with a straight post visible at the back of the turned earring. See it alongside the full range of wolf earrings.
