Gold and silver are familiar. Rose gold is worth understanding, because most people choose it on looks alone and there is a reason it suits who it suits.
Real rose gold is gold alloyed with copper, and the copper is what makes it pink. The more copper, the redder the metal, and the harder it is: rose gold is tougher than yellow gold for exactly that reason.
Because it sits between the two usual choices. Yellow gold is warm and can look brassy against cool skin; silver is cool and can look washed out against warm skin.
Rose gold has warmth without going yellow, which is why it works on a much wider range of complexions than either. If you have never been sure whether you are a gold person or a silver person, you are probably a rose gold person.
