Which Wolf Jewelry Should You Choose?

by brigitte alix 24 Mar 2021 0 Comments
WHICH WOLF JEWEL TO CHOOSE TO WORSHIP MY TOTEM ANIMAL ?

Ring, necklace or bracelet. Almost everybody buying wolf jewelry for the first time is choosing between those three, and the right answer depends less on taste than on three practical questions.

How visible do you want it. How much sizing risk can you take. And what does it have to match.

Start with visibility

Each piece sits in a different relationship to the people around you, and that is the real difference between them.

A ring is the most visible thing you own. It is in every handshake, every gesture, every photograph of you holding something. It is also the piece you see most, which is why it is the one people choose when the meaning matters to them personally.

A necklace is the most controllable. Under a shirt it is entirely private; over one it is a statement. The same piece does both depending on what you put on that morning.

A bracelet sits between the two. Visible when your sleeves are up, hidden when they are down, and noticed at close range rather than across a room.

Then sizing risk

This is the practical filter, and it matters most when buying for somebody else.

Rings need an exact size, and steel cannot be resized afterwards. Get it wrong and the piece is unwearable.

Bracelets are forgiving. Lengths run from around 16.5cm to 20cm, braided and corded styles adjust further, and being a centimetre out is barely noticeable.

Necklaces need no sizing at all, which makes them the safest gift in the entire store.

The rings

Carving matters more on a ring than anywhere else, because the piece sits inches from the eye for hours at a time. A design that reads as mush at that distance will not be forgiven.

The Wolf Ring Men is the general-purpose choice: relief carving on a moderate band, bold enough to see and low enough to live with.

WOLF RING MEN STEEL

The Ring Wolf God Anubis goes somewhere else entirely, drawing on Egyptian rather than Norse or Native American imagery. Worth knowing that Anubis is usually called jackal-headed, but the animal behind the image was reclassified as the African golden wolf, which our article on Anubis covers.

The necklaces

The deepest group in our range, and the one with the widest spread of styles.

The Wolf Man Pendant is the straightforward option: a clear profile, substantial enough to read over a t-shirt.

WOLF MAN PENDANT (STEEL)

The Werewolf Necklace takes the mythological route for anyone who wants the transformation story rather than the animal.

WEREWOLF NECKLACE (STEEL)

The Origami Wolf Necklace is the modern outlier, folding the animal into flat geometric planes. It reads as contemporary jewelry first and wolf second, which is exactly what some buyers want.

The Woman Wolf Pendant is drawn at a smaller scale with proportions to match a finer chain.

WOMAN WOLF PENDANT (STEEL)

One detail worth checking on any necklace listing: several designs are sold either as a pendant alone or supplied with a chain. If this is a first piece, take the chain, since matching one later is harder than it sounds.

The bracelets

Norse imagery dominates this category more than any other, and the reason is neat. Fenrir is the wolf bound by the gods until the end of the world, which makes a band around the wrist an unusually fitting shape for the story.

The Bracelet Wolf Fenris takes it in steel, holding its form and catching light.

BRACELET WOLF FENRIS (STEEL)

The Fenrir Viking Wolf Bracelet combines leather with steel elements, which is the most comfortable arrangement in the range: the steel carries the design where it needs to be seen, and the leather does the work of fitting the wrist.

The one rule about matching

Keep your metals consistent. Steel next to silver on the same hand or the same arm reads as accidental even when nobody can say why.

If you already wear a watch, that sets the tone for everything else, since it is the largest piece you own. Match rings to it first, and keep bracelets on the opposite wrist so the two do not knock against each other.
