A crescent on one ear and a howling wolf on the other. They are a mismatched pair, the moon on one side and the animal that answers it on the other.
Both pieces are cut as flat profiles. The crescent has a broad belly and two fine tapering horns, the shape the moon makes when only a sliver of its sunlit half is turned towards us. The wolf is shown from the chest up, mouth open and muzzle raised, the outline stepping down the back of the neck where the ruff thickens.
Wolves do not howl at the moon. The muzzle goes up because a raised head throws the call outward rather than into the ground, so it carries further across open country. The photograph catches that posture exactly. There is more on it in our piece on why wolves howl.
The metal carries a brushed grain, fine parallel lines drawn across the face, so light scatters along the surface instead of mirroring the room back at you. It suits a design built on outline alone: you read the shape first and the shine second.
The rest of the range sits in wolf earrings.
