Every domestic dog on earth, from a great dane to something that fits in a handbag, descends from ancient wolves. The association began at least fifteen thousand years ago and it is the first time humans ever domesticated anything.

Nobody is certain how it started. The likeliest account is that it was not done deliberately at all: wolves that tolerated people fed better around human camps, and over generations tolerance became attachment.

Which makes the dog the only animal that arguably chose us.

A realistic treatment

The print is detailed rather than graphic, with enough resolution in the coat to hold up close. Fur is the hardest thing to print, since it is thousands of fine lines, and it is where a cheap print gives itself away first.
